On May 2008, during the celebration of the “Year of Intercultural dialogue”, “Epilogi” in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture and the “Anna Lindh” Foundation of Alexandria, the program “Musical Footprints” began in order to promote intercultural dialogue and social cohesion among the citizens of Limassol and of the broader Cyprus. In 2009 and 2010 the program was co-organized together with more than 25 immigrant’s networks, Associations and cultural organizations of European countries, the Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus, the Archeological Department, the Municipality of Limassol, music choirs, schools and numerous local organizations. This event aims to bring together groups of immigrants and locals, to promote the cultures of both through music, dancing, cooking and crafts.
With the belief that the cultural diversity of Limassol is one of the most important advantages of the city of Limassol and that culture is one of the most important means of communication, the one that promotes the peaceful co-existence of all citizens, the Cultural Movement of Limassol “Epilogi”, in collaboration with 20 foreigners’ associations of Cyprus, organized again on 15th May 2011 the Intercultural Dialogue Night titled “Musical Footprints 2011”. The Limassol Castle, being a symbolic intercultural space hosted the event in 2008, 2009 and 2010, due to ongoing public works was replaced by the, also strongly intercultural, Heroes’ Square. The “Musical Footprints 2011” was therefore a new Annual event of our city. On the evening of the 15th of May, a concert of youth choirs and bands took place. Furthermore, there was organized a bazaar with food and crafts prepared by Limassol inhabitants from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds like the “Association of Russian-speaking citizens”, the Cypro-Hungarian Friendship and cultural association, the Alliance Francaise Limassol, the Union of Romanians of Cyprus, the Cypro-Slovakian Association, the Association of Bulgarians of Cyprus, the Slovenian Honorary Consulate in Limassol etc. The event was realized in collaboration with the “Anna Lindh” Foundation, the MunicipalityofLimassol, the Russian Newspaper “Vestnik Kipra”.
