Arab Academyof Music - League of Arab States
The Arab Academy of Music (AAM) is one of the specialized organizations in the League of Arab States dealing with music, especially Arabic music. It is established in 1971 by a group of Arab music pioneers, who felt at the time an urgent need for consummating an initiative dating as far back as the 1932 Cairo Arab Music Conference. At that time, a number of leading Arab musicians, orientalists, musicologists and composers – discussed the past and future of Arab music. They drew up certain strategies for Arab music, which theAAMhad later to develop and active. The mission of theAAMit to develop and universalize Arab music education; disseminate Arab music culture; collect and preserve Arab music traditions; and foster and promote Arab instrumental and vocal repertory. To materialize such mission, the AAMmonitors the development of music in the Arab region through the delegates who represent the member states, and undertake various projects and studies which are of interest to all member states; especially in terms of improving, on the long term, the status of Arab music and musicians. Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI)
Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI) is the largest youth music NGO in the world with the mission to "enable young people to develop through music across all boundaries". With members and contact organizations in 80 countries, JMI provides opportunities for youth engagement through music, reaching over 5 million young people aged 13-30 annually through 36,000 activities. JMI places empowerment, with its emphasis on social inclusion and cohesion, at its core. For over 60 years, JMI has been 'Making a Difference through Music', using the power of music to bridge across social, geographical, racial and economic divides and creating a platform for intercultural dialogue. In a number of resolutions of Annual General Assembly of JMI argued a need for the increased collaboration with Arab countries in the field of youth and music. National Music Conservatory – King Hussein Foundation (Jordan)
The National Music Conservatory (NMC), established by the Noor Al Hussein Foundation in 1986, isJordan's premier institution for the development of talented local musicians and the promotion of music appreciation inJordan.NMC demonstrates the power of music to promote understanding, peace and unity across cultural divides. An innovative application is the Middle East Institute of Music Therapy and the BA program in Music Therapy, both the first of their kind in the Arab world. Sevda-Cenap And Musik Vakfi – Jeunesses Musicales Turkey
For over 45 years Sevda-Cenap And Musik Vakfi is raising consciousness among youth, promoting and developing the international polyphonic music inTurkey. Being one of the most eminent Turkish organizations for non-formal music education, SCA promotes composers, archive and record compositions, organize concerts, publish music books, offer scholarships to students, organize seminars and workshops and finally support competitions on polyphonic music. Additionally, it approached social problems through music. Since June 2005, SCA organizes World Music Days and the International Ankara Music Festival becoming one of the largest annual event in the capital ofTurkey. From 1989, the SCA Gold Medal is offered to those who serve philharmonic music. In October 2003 the orchestra@modern was jointly founded by SCA and British Council.
